Car recommendations

Hello,
Just looking for a wee bit of advice. The missus is on mat leave and she goes back in a couple of months. I decided that when the little one was born it made financial sense to only keep the one car (sold a Bugeye Impreza and kept the 57 plate ceed).
Now I have started to think about what car to buy, probably have a few months before I have to get serious.
Looking to spend no more than about 5k. We have three girls (9, 3 and 4months).
The normal weekly driving that I would do is:
Couple of miles drop of to nursery school
Between 10 and 30 miles with some motorway but a fair amount of town driving.
Some running about at the weekends, no more than 50 miles a weekend
One or two longer trips of a few hundred miles for holidays
Really looking for car recommendations. Ive had a whole host of cars in the past from BMW 320d, RX8, Impreza WRX and others.
