Health/medical overhaul
Discussion
Has anyone on here had a medical overhaul? I'm 46, slim and in an active job, non smoker and drink a glass of red wine virtually every night. Though I eat 3 veg everyday, I have also packed many full English breakfasts away over the years too! Recently I've been wondering how my health is and if acting now could prevent something a bit nasty cropping up in a few years time which could possibly be irreversible.
If this were you, what would be your course of action? Straight to the G.P? Check out one of those 'Well Man' type clinics? What tests would you want?

(not a medic)
I reckon you already know how your health is 'cos you told us yourself!
Making sure you know what the symptoms of common nasties are, not ignoring anything even minor that fails to go away on its own after a week or 2 and attending screening appointments when invited by your GP, in addition to continuing to be active and mostly eating really well, I'm pretty much sure is at LEAST as good as anything you could pay a couple of hundred quid for.
If you've got a massively strong family history of something nasty cropping up around your age then go and talk to your GP about it - I'll hopefully be being tested soon for something my dad has that nearly killed him off when he was a few years older than I am now. The chances I've got it too are vanishingly small, but it (a blood clotting disorder) is very manageable once diagnosed and so it's well worth the checking.
If you're adopted or otherwise don't know relevant family health history for whatever reason, talk to your GP about that too.
