I'm in the fortunate position of being able to pay my mortgage off by the end of this year. Will dojng this and having no other loans other than a credit card which i probably put a couple of hundred a month on, but pay off immediately. Will this affect my ability to borrow money in the future? Should i keep a small figure on the mortgage?

Why not swap your existing mortgage for an offset one? That way you can just draw some cash out of that in future if you need a loan, rather than actually have to go and apply for a loan.

It shouldn't be any problem at all. I paid my mortgage off years ago, and all I have is a credit card which I clear every month and a mobile phone contract. My credit rating is fine. It helps more to have lived at the same address for some time, of course.
