Beware! This R129 is a complete lemon!
Discussion
I see that one has a panny roof, which means there's at least one other in yellow as I saw it a few years ago driving on the opposite side of the road to me, and it had a solid hardtop.
Now I'm not sure if I remember this rightly, but something tells me I was once told there was a R129 SL60 in yellow somewhere in Scotland.
Was this the same car? I don't know, but I like to think so.

It looks Mercedes Yellowstone to me. More popular on early SLKs. Without checking back through old brochures I can't remember whether it was a standard SL colour. My guess would be a Designo-style special order.
I pretty sure it was a Designo colour - on the R170's anyway. Yellowstone & Sunburst Yellow are the same colour. Paint code 685, if I remember correctly.

READY FOR THIS. IT CALLED..........PAINT 000 = Paint not yet defined

SL500, III/10, PORSCHE-GELB
Which as you can guess is Porsche Yellow.
Thats right WE/Merc stole the colour from them.
Hope this helps. (not sure why your Merc dealer couldn't find that out)
