Had a wee run out yesterday in search of snow with the young team and ended up on the road along the side of Loch Tay. Pretty uneventfull aside for the collection of classics that were out on some sort of road rally - few MGB's, Minis and some more obscure stuff like an old Volvo 240 (ish), a Mk1 Escort, a Mk2 Sunny and a Mk2 - most of which were piloted by older guys (the Mk1 in particular)

Anybody know what this was all about or if it happens on a regular basis? Would've been nice to find out where they started of ended to get a look round some of the cars close up and some pictures. I did take a couple whilst we made an impromptu stop just past the Queens View after the youngest decided a mix of floaty suspension, twisty roads, Fruit Shoot and Quavers would result in him decoarting the back of the car with projectile vommit... then I got a row for taking pictures of an old Volvo whilst she dealt with said Fruit Shoot and Quavers cocktail.

Cheers

Yes it was the Saltire Rally. It's a once a year event for 40 cars, mainly pre 1981 classics. Round about 100 miles with 18 timed special tests this year and 3 regularity sections. It's run along the lines of the way rallying used to be and very competitive. We were taking part in my 72 MG Midget and managed 9th overall and 3rd in class.
There are a few other events of a similar nature through the year, Great Glen Rally starting in Ft William in June and the Doonhamer in September in the Dumfries area.
We do about 12 of these sort of events throughout the year venturing south as well, It's nice to get the older cars out for a blast and use them properly.
