Buying Used

I'm considering buying a used Clio 200, comes with the Cup chassis and it's done 39k miles. Dealer wants £8,900. My main concern is about whether or not that is about average mileage? I know provided the car has been looked after and well maintained everything should be ok.

It's been on sale a few weeks so I might be able to get a couple hundred knocked off.

Average mileage for what year? You have failed to mention that fairly salient piece of info :-)

Not above average for the year.

Don't make the mistake of buying a car because it seems low mileage. The only time I ever did that I ended up with an abused shed. Big motorway miles is much lighter on the car than one that spends its life bouncing off potholes round town with kids in the back.

About right, the average person does 6000 miles a year from memory, but some people do 40k+.

10,000 a year is about an average for a normal person, aside from OAP's who just go to the shops...
