Small estate £10k budget

Hi all
I need an estate as a second car to our C class coupe.
Max budget of £10k.
Ideally auto, low running costs, new ish, as we intend to run it for several years.
I'm prejudiced against French cars, after spending thousands on electrical faults in the past.

Best I've come up with is a Seat Ibiza sport tourer, either the 1.2 Tsi with a DSG box, our possibly the 1.6 Tdi manual.
Both can be had on a 12 plate for my budget.

Am I overlooking anything else (ignore the Fabia, aesthetically unpleasing).

Am I wrong to go nearly new? Would a volvo V50 on an 08-09 plate be a more sensible option?

Lovely cars, looks like an 08 plated 320d with 60k for my budget! my only reservation would be that I intend to keep it for 7 years. This allows us to run a shiny main car, changing every 3 years.
I'm wary of buying a 6 year old car with that in mind.

This, but with a manual as it's less likely to cause bother or cost money than the DSG, if the auto box isn't essential.
