Understandably there is a lot of interest in Daimler V8 prototypes at the moment. A link to a thread from 2011 has been posted by GTRene.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Part of the thread states

"Certainly the car I have was nothing to do with the factory other than Stan Kilcoyne supplying all he parts to modify chassis and fit TR4 diff."

If I'm understanding this, the above quote refers to the Old Dame.

The PistonHeads ad states

"It was converted to Daimler V8 as "prototype" by TVR."

I apologise if I have got mixed up. If the first quote is about the Old Dame it would be interesting to know if the V8 was factory fitted or not.

No need to be confused, all that is required is the courtesy of a phone call and I can put your mind at rest.

Well I am the new proud owner of the Vixen Daimler V8 smile (Dubbed "Little Thunder" by my 6-year old son)

I have no proof of the authenticity of the car yet. But the story I have been told, and which you guys might confirm or disprove, is the following:

An employee at TVR left the company in the early 70s (Forgot the name, but you might understand who this might be?) and was given the opportunity to take ownership of the car. It was then parked at his house. In the late 70s and early 80s said employee had a Norwegian student living at his house. At the end of his studies he was given the chance to purchase the car and brought it home to Norway in 1982. The car was then sat unregistered for 10 years due to the lack of papers. In the early 90s the car was sold to the fellow who sold it to me and by close contact with the factory documents sufficient to get it registered in Norway were found and a license plate (V11967) was issued. He used the car as it was but after some years his father who had taken ownership sent the car of to DG for fixing up.
The car returned to Norway and changed ownership back to the son later on.

And then I bought the car on Sunday after having bee stored for many years and not used biggrin

My car has it's faults that needs correcting and I'd be very interested in getting in contact with "thegamekeeper" to compare how these two cars have been executed and maybe get to correct some of the "mistakes" in my car.

Anyhow I am proud to own the car and I am looking forward to doing plenty of driving in it (especially tunnel runs, down shifting from fourth to third with windows open biggrin)

I've promised to make a thread on the car and will as soon as I have some spare time left.

I don't know, but the car is supposed to have had the V8 when the former TVR-employee took ownership of the car according to the story I heard.

I will try to get the story confirmed of the people involved in due time.

In honesty I am not too worried if it is or isn't a prototype. Its a unique car and one that puts a smile on my face every time i look at it, drive it or just think of it smile
