Watched Shaun of the Dead last night. Didn't think it would be my cup of tea at all, but it was fantastic - haven't laughed at a film so much in ages. If you're stuck for a film to watch, try it. Its very good.

And on that note, now that I've signed up for the Blockbuster monthly thingy where they keep sending you DVDs through the post, does anyone have any other recommendations.

We're hard to please, I like comedy and romance, husband likes horror/sci-fi. (which is why Shaun of the Dead suited us both). So any recommendations for funny romantic horror films would be much appreciated.

oh

I was a bit skeptical at first as most british recent films are not that funny / scarey / or whatever they are ment to be.

That one was a cracker though!

P!ssed myself laughing at the "trisha" bit at the end

Its very rare that I laugh out loud at a film (I'm more of a giggler/sniggler), but that had me rolling round.
Wish I hadn't sent it back now, could happily watch it again tonight.

Funniest bit I laughed at was when he skids on the blood in the corner shop

Must be me then, coz whilst it was "okay" it generally left me cold. Certainly didn't laugh much !

There was the original on the other night, Dawn of the Dead. Don't like zombies.

I bought it a while back when it came out on DVD but haven't got round to watching it yet, mainly because my wife doesn't fancy watching it but also because I haven't really had the time either.

Can anybody give me a compelling argument to put to the wife as to why we should sit down and watch it together?

(Note: "Because it's got zombies in it" is unlikely to work )

Well I didn't fancy it at all either. But as a concession I said I'd watch the start and if it was too grim I'd leave him to it and go and do some work. But I just found it so funny (in a kind of immature way) and absolutely loved it.

Ask her to just watch the first few scenes. If she laughs at the beginning she'll probably enjoy it all the way through.

I got it for £6 from Blockbuster - they had loads of ex rentals for same price. It was soooo funny.
Lets go down the Winchester and watch it
