Hi Guys, looking to buy my first Porsche.

It will only be used as an occasional/weekend car.

What Porsche model do you think think will have the best residuals? So far tempted by a 991 or 997 GTS?

As it's occasional - 997GTS from the above

Have you thought of an older (and hopefully slowly appreciating) model if it's just for high days? On your budget a special 964 or 993?

With 991 money you can slip into an early car (pre 74), join DDk, and fall in love with a fast appreciating asset.

My shopping list was these for £60k ish. No dodgy colours, low miles, etc.
991 C2S pdk private buy with manufacturers warranty
997 turbo manual gen2/no sunroof
997 GT3

Can take a long time to get the one you want, I had one private seller tell me he's just taken a deposit on it, would I like to offer more ? Would have bought any of those three if I found one I liked but I think I've got the right one in the end, GT3.

First Porsche I would go for a mid engined car first and then graduate into a 911 if you want an extra challenge.

Depends on what you are used to and your skill level as a driver.

Don't be blinded by all the gt3 talk on here, the downsides are as numerous as the upsides.

Thanks carl, Skill level as a driver is pretty good, also have driven Porsches for years as my father has 3.

Looking more like a GTS at the moment as there is speculation this could become a future classic? Is this true?

Im not in a rush, so maybe next year I will be able to find a 991? That if I can't find my perfect 997.

Contrary to this, I'd be looking only at Mezger versions, 997 and before GT and Turbo cars (don't be fooled by GTR, it's just a carrera), 993 and before, anything mid engined will not do well resale wise.
