Self Employed Race Car Technician - Business ideas required

Hi all,

I am a self employed race car technician, I work full time for a team who run two cars in the BTCC, so my day to day work involves the preperation and maintenance of one of the cars. Also I look after a few historic race cars (Austin A40, Ford GT40, Ford Falcon), a couple of BritCars (Ford Mustang and Honda Integra) and also a customers Mercedes SLS GT3.

Now I have been trying to think of ways I can earn myself some extra cash, I am sure the skills I have are quite sought after to a select group of people. However I am unsure of what services I can realistically offer that people will be willing to pay for and also of how to market it.

If I can come up with a good business plan then I am very willing to invest the money required into equipment I may need (mainly set-up gear)

I realise that reputation will be everything to any customers I may attract, but I have to start somewhere, and I believe I have a very strong CV.

Any input you guys may have will be great, I am serious about this so please keep responses equally serious and realistic

Isn't that exactly the sideline you are asking about?

Yes i did ask the question before, however since then i have turned self employed and work withing motorsport full time. This makes it a lot wasier to take on other work and start to set up my own business

Those other cars that i look after are all run throught the company that i work for. You are right that this is the sort of work i am looking for, but i want to take them on myself. My main problem is atrracting the people that require the services that I am trying to offer.
