I don't see this happening myself (The Ukrainians seem to have something else they need to worry about) but good luck to them.

MG in the WRC???….but the alarm bells are ringing. Sounds like a private project – hoping to get MG to homologate it.
No thanks!!
Please do it properly – with finance & resources. Otherwise don’t bother. You can’t do the WRC on the cheap. Haven’t the lessons of Suzuki and BMW-MINI been learnt?
One would like to see MG driving this project – as opposed to a guy with financial backing; hoping they’ll agree. Not a good start in my book.

not sure on the difference between factory backed and non factory financed. as long as the right level of finance is there its generally the same teams that run these things factory or not
Exactly and the mg team in the btcc is hardly a manufacture effort the shells where from mg the rest was built by 888 and they are one of the top teams in the btcc. It may not be wrc levels but it's another team on the grid and another manufacture car represented.Furyblade_Lee said:
I take it I am alone in think that car looks nice?? Probably because it looks unlike anything else out there, almost an old school body kit just like the old days?
I'm with you - think it looks great. But yes it needs to be done propely. Can't imagine MG are mad keen - but really hope so. sanf said:

I can't see how it does any harm really. If it's rubbish it'll only appear a few times and vanish. If it's good they can brag about it. So even if they are luke warm on the idea I'd hope they sign the paperwork.Furyblade_Lee said:

I'll join you, IF it works why worry?the old Bil Gwynne Motorsport MG S2000 from 2008 was as quick as the Pugs but sadly fizzled away.
Higgins pedalled it quick at Ypres but didn't make the end, spoke to him in the town late Sat night, disappointed it failed but did ask us if it looked quick as others, at least some consolation when replied yes.
Proton S2000 was another that went away too soon
I think this will fade away, nowadays you need full Factory commitment or a well funded 'privateer' team such Kronos etc and then be able to either sell cars or at least lease them out.
Hope I'm wrong, any form of WC needs more than 2-3 major competitors
