SLK R170 front wings
Discussion
Hello all, I have been cleaning my slk today and noticed some small areas of rust grinning through my nice shiny silver paintwork. I had a trip down to my local paintshop and they said they can fix but it would be temporary and suggested I fit new wings. I have been scouring thinternet and so far have found only glassfibre wings. So my question is can anyone please advise me where I can find a pair of nearside and offside front wings. Also can anyone share their experiences of this problem?
Mike.

As it happens I currently have the me issue. My wife's 2003 230K that we have had from new has had. Few bits done over the years in all the places they go and now the front wings need doing. My bodywork chap has been scouring the country but has come up blank, there seem to be none in the country.
Used ones seem a bad idea as even if find some the right colour they've probably started rusting themselves. Ours have been sent away for some proper treatment of some sort as he reckons they're salvageable.

Get new ones from Mercedes? Mike.
There aren't that many R170s breaking and they all suffer from the same rot spots anyway.
I have the same problem with my 2001 but have managed to get two rust free wings in the silver for £300 secondhand. New ones from mercedes are only £130 but the kompressor badges are £30. Dronsfield have a passenger side wing for £150 in silver at the moment but just be patient and you should find a pair.
Thank you all for the advice and the pics on proper restoration work the car looks new. I now have to decide whether to get my bodyshop to repair the front wings or get a couple from mb parts at Newport pagnell, they quoted £151 plus vat each. V6 compressor badges will be needed so that's an ebay thing. Car should be done for end of month.
