Deep joy! 5 year old dents the car

So for some reason the child lock decided it was going to let the O/S back door open. So five year old son smashes it into dry stone wall with twice the strength of the sodding Hulk. Nice big dent as a result.

So, does your son try and open the door anyway and on this occasion was successful due to a faulty child lock?
What happens if your son is in someone else's car, do they have to have child locks?
Why is your son proceeding to open a door without your say so? If he is unaware of a wall, you can be sure he won't be thinking about traffic.
I'm not criticising you per say, but these things used to be taught, rather than relying on "safety" devices.

Go easy on him. When I was a similar age we were queuing for a ferry at some Scottish Loch and I was sitting on the front bench seat of a Zephyr, playing with the strange looking handbrake. The next second all hell broke loose as the poor sod in the car in front got the shock of his life when we rolled into the back of him, his newspaper went up in the air with his flask of tea. My sisters in the back didn't stop laughing the whole day and I spent the rest of the holiday as far away from the old man as possible.

Another could be worse story coming here. Could of done what I did at 5 and find a Stanley knife and get let loose in the back and boot of old mans brand new montego. I was not popular after my 'art' was found.

I shut my brother's fingers in the door of my dad's Mkiv Cortina as a child. Fortunately not very hard, and they all stayed onIt was a Rover SD1. I don't understand how it happened as most of the panel gaps were big enough that you could get into the car without actually opening a door.
