Sorry for the numpty question, but the info on the web isn't all that clear on this. What's the process for when you have owned your car for a year and need to reregister it? It sounds like this can now be done via your insurer, but you still need to have it inspected, so I'm not sure I get the point of this?

What's the correct steps to take here?

exactly the same as when you bought it, only you can renew the insurance beforehand if required [insurance usually runs for 13mths] and the sales transfer bit doesn't happen.

it's like having an MOT only the standard of inspection is both poor and arbitrary

The missus has hers done by her insurer, she's actually never been to Tasjeel at all.

Being a bloke (idiot) I do it myself, renew insurance and go to one of the test centres as when you first transferred to your name.

Quick call to your insurers should tell you whether they offer the service.

who's she insured with and how much do they charge for the service?

i usually just go to the one in jafza half hr before they close for the weekend. its rushed through, no dramas.
