The Duster in India

Despite the Indian car industry declining in growth for the first time in 12 years last year 1800000 were still shifted.

Even more crazy is the new car to have on the road. It's the Nissan Terrano or Renault Duster.

Seem to be everywhere, although virtually none four months ago.

Is there no end to the duster domination.

I got a cab from Mumbai to Pune today and I saw 3, just when I happened to be looking out the window. I noticed the first one because of the Renault badging.

Was in Mumbai 3 weeks ago and saw enough of them to notice there were many out there. Never saw any before (my previous visit was about 6 months ago?
So I would concur with the OP!

I actually increased my life insurance before i took the return journey on the expressway

Even though I have been going there since 2008 I did my first Mumbai-Pune expressway trip last month. I didn't think it was that bad TBH, but the last bit in the outskirts of Mumbai is a pain. Although TBH we did see the aftermath of what I guess was a fatality with lots of claret all over the road.

And I saw a lot of Dusters in Pune, mostly in that metallic brown colour that BMW buyers seem to love at the moment.

I saw quite a few last week in Mumbai, Pune and Indore.

Surprised by the lack of Nanos there, totally dominted by suzuki.

Over 50% market share for new sales. The nano is twice the price at 2 Lakhs rather than the 1 lakh bargain it was first billed to be,

The expressway was crazy on the way up the big hill coming out of Mumbai... Huge lorries and busses scattered across all 3 lanes at walking pace and the cars dodging and zig zagging between them at as close to 100 kmh as possible often passing on the rockyshoulder. Occasional well built director type passing in new German metal at superior leptons... One white merc GL really giving it the full beans. Didn't see road based claret but in central Mumbai my driver knocked a motorbike over, he made a hasty getaway as the guy dusted himself off... Seems par for the course. Never seen anything like it.

Yeah, up the mountain

Motorway with hairpin bends, which have concrete filled oil drums scattered around as you go round blind corners. Trucks driving the wrong way meeting you coming round the bends or broken down trucks being repaired where they stopped.

Lunacy!...much like the driver i had.

I've only been the other way (Pune->Mumbai) and only once. The bit where it all separates to fit under a bridge is a bit scary, but other than that OK.

Last trip I did Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Rajkot (weekend at Gir) and Pune. Have also previously done Ahmedabad, Delhi and Gurgaon (not sure this counts as different from Delhi).
