I had a lucky escape the other day!
I was aproaching a fairly tight bend and the throttle got stuck on full in 3rd gear!!
I didn't really have a lot of time to react, touched the brakes to slow down a bit and had to just steer through it on full throttle. I didn't want to knock it out of gear as this may have been worse grip wise, and the rev limitter would have been popping away until I could have stopped the engine in a safe position!
Luckily I got round ok (although it was a good bit sideways!) then once straight stopped the engine, pulled over and freed up the pedal with some WD.
Probably would have looked like some excellant cornering to any onlookers!!
Thank god it was dry!! things would have been very differant in the wet.
Needless to say i've been over all the throttle linkage, cable, pedal etc with the good old WD40 and a bit grease!!

Again the drivers over mat slipped down and jammed the pedal down. My one now lives in the garage. I was lucky, running on to an empty motorway one dry Saturday morning. Pressed the kill button and drifted to the hard shoulder.
The design of the mat with the little spikes in one direction make it creep forward, like the ear of corn trick!

Dont they have velcro on them to stop them moving?
Dear Cerb 450
No only two prongs that stick in to the fitted carpet. I'm thinking of having hessian fitted throughout to match my roof lining and will have some knitted floral rugs in the footwell that I will velcro down.

Phew - bet that was a fill-yer-pants moment.. glad you managed to save it.. I noticed that when I got mine the throttle was exceptionally stiff - replaced the cable and is now happy again.. with full and free movement.. will definitely be securing the mat now as well after other tales.. Ta.

I had a similar problem last sunday. Was returning from a trip to leven tech with our region and as i came off the roundabout at hewitts farm floored it in first to blow a couple of cars away only to find throttle stuck full open in 3rd.tried lifting the throttle with my foot but no luck so without thinking killed the engine and then lost all brakes and steering.Scared the living daylights out of me and the misses but the boy thought it was great and had a big grin on his face.

TVR never fail with consistency do they!
I had to check mine as I though Id imagined it.
Mine has a length of velcro along the rear edge to keep it in place maybe a later upgrade

The original fit mats from the factory have the Velcro & are part glued to the floor, and rarely move round much.
The over mats that you can buy (with Cerbera stitched into them) have this spike/prong arrangement & no Velcro !

Under RAC MSA rules in my day, that's why rally cars had to have a secondary throttle return spring. Not a bad idea to fit a fairly meaty one to a Cerb, though it can make the throttle quite stiff in ordinary use, much to the detriment to attempts at heal and toeing. Still, other than the "press the left button" option, it seems to be the best way of avoiding the scenery going forwards. A combination of Joolz forgiving setup(TM)/Nitrons tend to ensure avoidance of meeting scenery backwards...
