PetrolTed, hope I'm bending rather than breaking your rules here.

My old university motor club (Imperial College aka City & Guilds) is in a bit of trouble. They organise a track day each year for members, ex-members and anyone else who wants to come. Its 'not for profit', and has almost always run at a loss. Anyway, this year, they need 30 people to break even, and have only 10, which means theyre facing financial ruin.

So, anyone fancy it? It's one of the cheapest going, and is all above board (Goodwood insist on paramedics and instructors these days).

Its on Dec 3rd (Friday) and is £125. If they get another 15 people itll hit the usual £500 odd loss, at the moment theyre facing £2k losses!

Details at this link. www.union.ic.ac.uk/transport/goodwood/

The club has some 70 odd years of history, runs the college mascot - a 1902 James & Brown Tonneau, runs 4 rotax max karts, and counts Keith Duckworth (of Cosworth fame) and Frank Dernie (of Williams F1 fame) as ex members.

Joe Baguley, Gavin Pearson, Sam Monoogian - know anyone who can help your old club out?

Cheers guys

Also worth pointing out that with only 10 people booked so far, and the fee for the circuit already paid, you're looking at one heck of a lot of track time if you do go!

And its about as cheap as they come.

And goodwood is an awesome circuit.

The contact is Antony Hartley and his phone number is 0775 3804379.

His e-mail is antony.hartley@imperial.ac.uk

Having been to (and run) the event with BeeJay for many years I can recommend it - it's well organised and very good value for the amount of time you get to spend on the track.

Again,

Having previously run in and organised this, in the days when no-one knew what a track day was - "What? You can bring your OWN car?" - This is an excellent day with an eclectic mix and loads of track time. Usually by the end of the day the track is almost empty as most have cooked their brakes or just got tired !!!

Previous attendees have included a Karman Ghia Silhouette racer, various Fezzas, The Aston owner's club, the Capri Owner's club (a good bunch of guys), the Lotus Elise owner's club and oh yes, a couple of Dolomites...

Please pass this on to your colleagues and friends.

This club is the club that started me and many others in motorsport and continues to do so, with members going on to work in F1, Rallying, Manufacturing, media etc.

Even better news.

Bee_Jay and I have persuaded the club to lower the price to 90 pounds to anybody that knows us. You just have to mention my name and you get the discounted rate.
