Italian car day, any proposed dates venue, Paul qv?

Just wondering if anyone knows of dates/venue of Italian car & bike day, no such event happened in 2013 if I remember but was held at hopetoun house up to 2012.. Really good wee show, know Paul qv who ran the events posted on this forum last year potentially looking for ideas/new venues etc but never heard if anything was finalised??
Back in the good old days Ferrari day at knockhill was one of the best days you would see up in Scotland with a great mix of Ferrari,Lamborghini and other exotica (including Porsche I may add ;-))with action on and off track!.. Would be good to see a similar day back again, with the great show of cars at the last few italian car days ran by Paul an equivalent day to the old Ferrari days could be a possibility at least numbers wise

You are right that we have been doing a lot of work in the background to re stage the event. the plan was for a bigger wider based event.
We are still exploring some possibilities. However to be honest they are looking a bit bleak. We have been considering different venues throughout Scotland. We have visited quite a few but none meet what we want. Knockhill want an event to tie in with existing and with limited space. Other venues such as East Fortune, have particular rules about arriving and leaving.
We are exploring some other ideas. We appreciate time is running on. the problem is trying to find ANY location which would allow the cars to move whilst the public are there.
What we wanted was an ICBD with supercars and superbikes to expand the event. We wanted to have them making noise and driving to entertain the public and participants. Hopetoun was limited and people were getting bored by early afternoon.
Sadly most venues in Scotland wont work within these parameters. I am canvassing a venue and it's proposals with my other organisers and will let everyone know shortly if we are going to re run the event at all.
A massive amount of work is needed to run these and unless there is an adequate return for the charity, then we are better doing a 'pay for passenger seat' event and earn 10X what Hopetoun has raised for charity.

It's a static display and possibly not attracting the crowd we wanted. Hopetoun attracted a dedicated ICB crowd. We never had any problems with the public and the exhibits. Other venues have had multiple issues. We don't want to barricade the cars off and previous SECC events have been like that or had issues.
Some elements of the public cant seem to understand that these are other members of the public cars and bikes and should be treated with that respect. Some treat them worse than in a garage as there is not as much supervision. EG Sitting ON the cars; banging buggies into them; Standing ON the cars; trying everything to get into them and then abusing them internally. At one event an exhibitor had £2000 worth of paint damage by scrapes against his car!
We were lucky in avoiding that and hence are a bit fussy where we exhibit as frankly many people simply wont turn up to certain venues, at all. That has been made very clear to me many times and TBH I feel the same about some places. Last year one man was indignant that I challenged him about trying to force his way in to my countach!

I was thinking of the hall as a way of actually driving the cars as well, have seen this at previous motor shows. But I guess this is the difference between a privately run event for enthusiasts and a commercially run one with 2000 pages of disclaimers, risk assessments, liability insurances etc.
Been to Hopetoun House twice with my son and his pal who were both aged 12. Loved seeing all the cars, watching them start up and drive away and get lots of photos taken. I think we are typical of the type that you are probably looking to attract.
I take it Hopetoun just would not entertain a roped / barriered area where the cars could do a set route? Not looking to see the cars hit speeds, its more just wanting to hear them start up, move off and maybe give a bit of beans just at the same stretch that the cars always did do anyway?
