Came across a previously-unknown interview of Jaguar's XJ13 Test Driver David Hobbs. The interview was conducted by Philip Turner (former UK "Motor" Sports Editor) almost 20 years ago.

What a fabulous post! The XJ13 is the stuff of legend for any fan of Jaguar's racing history.

I've been lucky enough to carry out development work and road testing on a nicely patinated and utterly breathtaking Proteus XJ13. What a truly formidable car to drive, and even with the single cam V12 on throttles right behind the driver's ears,at speed with the taps open, the sound is like nothing on this earth! Nothing prepares you for the cabin temperature, which is unbearable below 70mph, and the brake has to be applied very gingerly at speed as the car feels exacly how it is, long and narrow, with a lot of weight behind the driver.

To be able to do what you are doing is an extrordinary thing, and thank you for allowing me to relive what it's like in that amazing cockpit!
