Ok, i'm bored, so I think I will start something that will probably get me banned again!
Just read the latest Vantage magazine, intrigued by the AMG/Aston partnership, and the road test of the V8v and the AMG Sl....all good so far, but here's the thing, the AMG is down marked for having too much Torque, and therefore missing out on the enjoyment of having to use high revs to get the best out of the Engine, now, maybe I'm mistaken, but I'm sure that most of the 4.3 knockers on here slate the fact that you have to use high revs to get the most out of the engine?, and as we all know, the few on here know it all, so, who the hell writes for the Vantage magazine,???

I found the 4.7 more engaging than the V12 to drive for the very reason you could rev through the engine range.
The only material difference was getting caught speeding, the 4.7 might lead to a ban where the V12 might have seen me jailed. That said the V12 engine is a peach but wheel spinning in third in the wet with such an over engined/manual car for the road didn't float my boat. IMHO.

Oh dear am I going to jail....I have both a V12V and a SL63 AMG
How do they compare, if you don't mind my asking? I've always imagined the SL63 to be heavy and wobbly compared to a bespoke sports car. But Chris Harris used to give it great reviews.
I looked at the SL before I went for my V8.

Well done that man. I bet they are both dirty too....
Well the V12V is now completely dirty but was once very clean and I recently found this thread about the original detail when purchased from the local dealer - JCT Leeds. It reminded me how good it once looked!Linky
The SL is currently at Topaz Detailing in London before being collected by me on Wednesday for a fun drive back up North. I can then let you know just how dirty it is
.....I like them filthy

That's funny. When I was at jct, I was put in that same space.
Did you send the Sl down to London just to get it detailed by topaz?
Yes - I heard they were the only decent detailer down there Did you send the Sl down to London just to get it detailed by topaz?
. I actually bought the car from the London dealer who must have a connection with them (HR Owen). Never heard of them myself until they were mentioned as part of the deal. In theory the SL is supposed to be having their Ultimate 24 stage treatment before I collect. Probably just a wash and polish

Well I think it looks quite good - fully detailed and waiting for collection tomorrow I looked at the SL before I went for my V8.

Will hopefully be able to give a bit more comparison the V12V after playing at the weekend.
