My hood was in poor shape: stitching disappearing, coming unstuck where it meets the body, baggy and saggy - and it was letting in water:

But today I got it replaced and the targa recovered at The Car Hood Warehouse in Chessington. Now it's taut, it fits, and it looks great. The picture doesn't really do justice to the transformation:

The only downside is that we've got two nice weekend days coming up, but I'm under strict instructions to keep the roof CLOSED for a few days so it can stretch and bed in. Boo!

Congrats. Looks good.

Mine is also getting a new roof at the moment (as well as a few other things) Should pick the car up next week and like you, looking forward to not having a scabby roof that let's the car down.

I asked them for a price as I live nearby, iirc about £620 possibly +VAT, I might be wrong.

Looks really good Dr, since and taught.

As an alternative for you DIYers, you can buy a kit for £280 all in from Central TVR.

I'm gonna buy one but what the quality is like and how easy it is to fit,................I'm unsure!

Look at mine, that's been done by a specialist!
I've yet to take it back so I'll reserve judgement but your welcome to comment!

Mine is being done at the moment and is going to cost £550 plus VAT. I've also chosen a smaller window so that I can get the targa hoop down further and perhaps even see something out of the rear view mirror when the roof is down.

Love those alloys Alun!
They're like spiders for the Chimaera generation, what wheels are they? Standard 4 stud fitment?

Hi Dom, there just some cheap rubbish Phazed sold me, Lol lol lol.
They look really cool I must say. I really like them, 17's. Ive never looked as to what they are, I will see if there's anything on them in the morning. There a multi fit wheel, if that makes sense, a number of holes, I buckled one last year so went to see a guy who repairs them, sooner or later I'll get them re painted, he's the nuts.
I used them on a trackday and they held up well.

The cost was £640 inc VAT (so about £530 + VAT), which seems to be the going rate. All done in a day, too - though it helps if you can drop it off early (I arrived at 07:15).

I'm really pleased at how original it looks in every detail. They said they do lots of TVRs and supply hoods to various specialists, and the fit certainly supports that.

Looking forward to seeing if it cures the water ingress behind the driver's seat, and it would also be nice if the alarm stops screaming at 3am just because it's windy!

So I think I can recommend the Car Hood Warehouse in Chessington for anyone in the vicinity of south-west London.

Speaking to a pal who has worked as a subby for Mole Valley TVR, he said that the Chessington crew supplied the best quality hoods.
