Tyre recommendations for for road and track

OK,I know this is going to be a thing of compromises but I have a a set of light weight wheels coming for my MK5 Golf GTI and I wanted some tyres to go on them. I had eventually decided on Michelin Pilot Super Sports since they are going to do around 6-8 track days a year. They are on a long lead time and while I seem to have time on my hands waiting I thought I'd check to see if I've missed a strong candidate. If it has any bearing the vehicle is modified with a track focus and has around 330 bhp and a good dollop of torque.

I don't necessarily mind having a tyre which requires care in the wet as I tend to exercise caution in adverse weather but I don't want a problem tyre in adverse conditions.

Any advice or recommendations gratefully received.

Federal RSRs are pretty decent from what I have heard and cheaper that some of the more focused number.

Saw the title and thought supersports straight away, but you've already covered that. What's the size out of interest?

Otherwise how about Yokohama AD08s?

Yes, AD08's did crop up in conversation with a supplier but reviews seemed to be at extreme opposites. Some were very happy with them and others less so, not much in the middle. Maybe I'll do a bit more research on these as an option. Noted the comment regarding Federals,thanks. I'll also have a poke around in the track forum.

Are you planning to use the car in the winter? My AD08s are like Fred Flintstone tyres when it's cold.

Kumho V70A is a very underrated track tyre.

I'd be surprised if there was a shortage of 225/40 R18s?!

AD08s are a good compromise - decent grip from cold and surprisingly good water dispersion, but respectably sticky when warm.

I've been running my AD07s (same compound as the AD08, slightly different construction) all year 'round for a few years now and can't fault them except on snow (where they're comically woeful).

+1 for the AD08 here although they can be quite slides when they're cold.

I have AD08s as my wet tyres and RSRs as my dry ones.
