Hi I'm new to the forum and the world of TVR's and would appreciate some help.

I'm going to look at a wedge tomorrow that needs some work doing on various things bodywork, brakes, interior etc.
One of the things is the exhaust manifolds are blowing.
quick question can land rover tubular manifolds be modified to fit or are they bespoke items ?
The replacements from tvr specialists are a bit expensive.

It also needs work on the brakes but they seem fairly easy to get hold of.

What about interior parts ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike

Welcome aboard.

The manifolds are bespoke I believe. Just out of interest where is the car? If its anywhere not to far from me I might be able to come and lend an eye tomorrow?

Brakes are nothing to worry about but the rears can be a pain. The chassis is one of the most important bits to scrutinise. Unless you are pretty good at welding.

Interior bits can bit hard to find but they are about.

I have a pair of Rangey tubular manifolds hand haven't ruled them out but they will need chopping about.

Half the time the problems are either the top gaskets or where they join onto the rear section which are quite often solved by tightening bolts up.

If the manifolds are cracked/holed then welding must be the cheapest option. A good welder is a magician, so don't believe the charlatans who claim that it can't be repaired.

Check security of fixings for manifolds and also for a loose spark plug (I had the latter, sounded just like the former).

hi thanks for the advice.
The car I'm going to look at is a car in wales that was on here a while ago that hasn't sold.
I'm going with cash and a trailer and see what happens.
The outer chassis rails have supposedly been done. But it needs some work on the breaks / bodywork.
I know my way round cars and have restored / repaired an number of cars in my time.
I always fancied a TVR but they were out of my price range and I think that now is the time to buy one.
I have a good idea of what to look for thanks to this forum.
I have a couple of other cars that I am doing as well but not TVR's

Cheers

Mike
