Soon to sell car, need new tyres, good budget brand?

As title suggests, I am looking at selling/part ex my 160k miles skoda octavia vrs mk2. I doubt I'll get more then around £3k as aesthetically it is pretty average.


That being said, the current falken fk452s are too low to last me the next couple of months and sell with, so I need an acceptable budget brand that a future user won't instantly turn their nose up at... Keeping in mind the £3k price tag.

Any recommendations for a reliable budget brand?

Uniroyal rainsport 2, Toyo T1R or Falken 452. Anything worse than these would put me off and make me wonder where else money has tried to be saved.

I would just go to your local part worn pace and get a matching pair of a brand you've heard of....put 2 part-worn hancooks on a fiesta that was due to be part-exed, still with 5-6mm of tread for £50 fitted

Falken or Maxxi are well priced.
I wouldn't touch Nangkang again, and would never touch a car with Autogrips on. I learned the hard way.

I bought a pair of Michelin primary's back in the summer off eBay for £40 + £10 fitting. They had 6mm tread left and were fine on the xj6. I would do that. Looks better than a couple of ditchfinders

Unfortunately not. Most ignorant tyre snobs will see a silly name and assume they are crap. In fact your average punter who thinks he knows a thing or two will never have hard of Falkens either.

If someone is going to turn their nose up at a car because of a tyre brand they are a dick anyway, so why worry about them? It is only people in this forum who say they would use tyre quality as a guide as to how well the car has been looked after, and I call bullst to that coz if the seller handed over a folder full of receipts for work done, the car was pristine inside and out, low mileage, HPI clear, the exact colour and spec the buyer was looking for and an absolute bargain they are utter liars if they said they would walk away just because it had Sunnys on it.

Put something decent and cheap on and convince the seller it is better that than Michelins with 1.6mm left on them. Decent and cheap includes tyres like Primewell, Sunny, Nankang, Accelera.

Better still, get something 'C' rated or better and keep the EU tyre rating stickers and show the buyer. Objective test results mean infinitely more than forum bias.

I just put a set of Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance tyres (195/65R15) on my shed Rover 75 at a cost of £60 each fitted by Kwikfit mobile.

I thought that was pretty reasonable and literally within a couple of pounds of the cheaper brands.

Been pretty impressed with them so far.

The Octavia is based on a Golf floorpan, you wally. If you want to look clever on the internet you should at least have some idea of what you are talking about.
