Apologies if this has been covered before but what is the correct thing to do for our Wedge on test with its LSD and roller brake testing? Should we be concerned with seperate rollers turning and braking each wheel.. any risk of damage to the diff? With a late 89 Wedge is it down to the tester discretion to road test?

Yes Chris you make the tester do a road test for the rear brakes.

They have a piece of kit that goes in the passenger footwell for these eventualities.

It all makes sense to me now, that's why my MOT tester in Reading always road tested the brakes with a gizmo sat on the passenger floor well, what a good bloke Mr Rodriguez.

I thought the jag LSD can take upwards of 700bhp, and be hammered round corners at over 100mph and not even sweat. What can a brake test on a rolling road at 5mph do apart from show a false reading if one of the calipers decides not to picnic?

I spoke to John Reid at Grantura Engineering about this recently. He rebuilt my diff, granted its a gkn from a Griff and not from a Wedge but he said he cant see any problems with any of the diffs going on the rollers at mot time.

Mine has been done on the rollers at each mot time. It still puts two black lines of rubber on the road if you ask it to so cant have done much harm.

It's fine, the brake bias test will not damage the diff.
