Finally got around to fitting my new Diamond Cut 620R wheels with the new ZZR avon tyres.

They do look very nice in the flesh!

The only problem seems to be just how sticky the ZZR tyres are, and the stones from my gravel drive sticking to them!

Nice, are they purely for the 620R, or just the new Apollo wheel caterham have brought out, must all be the same PCD?

Fitting mud flaps to the front mud guards helps reduce the number of stones thrown up, but they add weight biggrin

Those tyres really look dry weather only!

I think you are correct, but boy are they sticky in the dry, even with my 260+ BHP! I could not light the wheels up today easily!

Quite tempted to get a set of these myself!

They look a lot nicer with the unpainted rim than the first set Caterham released.

agreed, i have always thought that my car needed the wheels to be shinier against the comparative dark of the car colour, so wanted then at least to have the shiny edge.

The anthracite wheels that came with my car as standard, have always looked a little plain, so i am pleased with these.

Looks like i now have another set of R500 wheels to sell on ebay!!

Thanks, you are the third person who has been in touch to say they are interested.

I will be selling them on eBay as before.

I will post on here to let people know when they are up for sale,

You might want to hang onto your CR500s if you're thinking about heading out in the wet though!

Yep they do seem super sticky in the dry, but I question the wet weather suitability!

No I don't normally plan a drive out in my R500 in the wet, but sometimes we do get caught out, so will have to think if I need two sets!

theres plenty of clearance from tyre to arch at the back isn't there. . .I guess they all sit like that but I haven't noticed it before

Yep it's symptomatic of the 13 inch rims, and perhaps exacerbated by my camera angle.

On my previous R500 Stuart at fault sport set the suspension up for me, which involved him cutting down the base of the adjustable spring platforms to get it to sit even lower.

I should do it to my current R500, but the problem when you go lower, is that you get a lot of grounding on other areas of the chassis and exhaust.

Wheels look sharp!

Re zzrs in the wet- I have used them for the past 3 years wet and dry. No issues. I'm careful in the wet, but have never had any aqua planning issues. Clearly on a damp track they aren't that great, but the sideways action is a lot of fun! Enjoy.

Thanks for the feedback on my new wheels.

I will monitor the use of the ZZR tyres in different conditions, but I shall of course be taking extra care in the wet too!

Sorry but they actually are the wheels that are now being supplied with the new 620r, I was reliable informed by the product marketing manager at CC who is responsible for the spec of the 620r customer cars.

The wheels you are referring too we're only fitted to the press cars, and were later decided that they would not be the production versions.

So the ones I have now, are what people will be getting with their new 620r deliveries.

I seem to recall you have one on order, what have CC told you about which wheels you will be getting?
