Selling a car after your residance visa has expired

One of my colleagues has left the office, had his visa cancelled but currently on a tourist visa and has still to sell his car.

According to one call to the RTA he can do this with his passport, according to another call he needs his emirates ID.

Anybody experience of this and have a definitive answer.

A mate both re-registered and sold his without a residence visa.

That was in the days before you had to have EID though.

I managed to sell/transfer my car without res visa in 2012 - but back then an Emirates ID wasn't worth the card it was printed on.

I was always told that you couldn't, so when friends / colleagues have been in this situation we've transferred their car into my name before their residence gets cancelled and I've sold it for them!
