Why is choosing a new car so difficult

I have had my Fiesta Zetec S for over 4 years now, and its time to move on, for many reasons.

I have a budget of between £6000 to £8000, however I don't really have any requirements for a car. My daily drive consits of 5 miles of dual carriageway and 7 miles of B road.

I'm 23, and have 5 years worth of no claims, so insurance isn't much of an issue.

Any suggestions are welcome

The RS Megane is something I have considered, as well as Focus ST, and Golf GTI. What holds me back with the golf is the fact I would rather a R32, albeit a decent mk 5 is just out of budget.

Cheap to run (not even too bad on fuel), most probably has stopped depreciating, and it's got a V8

Or if practicality isn't a concern, how about a VX220?
