V5c number of owners question?

Looking at a used car and on the v5c the current and previous owner is the same, however the current owner said when he changed address it changed the number of owners too; that can't be right can it?

He first bought it in March 2012 as per invoice shown from garage he showed me however when he changed address in December 2013 it changed number of owners and acquired date

Is this right, can I ring up dvla and question it?

Wouldn't be too bothered usually but current previous owners is stating 4 and so current owner is 5th and I'll be 6th

Sounds legit. A regular mistake made. If you tick the "new keeper" box next to the "date changes made" box, it will automatically add an owner. Easy mistake to make.
