Now summer is around the corner, thought i would get the paintwork all sorted. Nothing major, probably about 5 small scuffs and 1 bit of peeled lacquer on the front bumper on a 6 year old beemer. Been washed weekly but has loads of tar marks and dead bugs. I just wanted to double check with someone more knowledgeable if the following order is the right way of doing it....

1. 2 x wash
2. Clay ( Meguiars aggressive compound )
3. Touch up all scuffs and relacquer small bit on bumper (about 5p size) using those pens from halfrauds
4. Polish ( AG super resin )
5. Seal ( AG extra gloss protection )

What do you guys think?

If you are really confident in your ability to do the touch up, then:

1. Wash with fairy liquid (aggressive, to get everything off)
2. Medium clay (less chance of marring paint than aggressive clay)
3. Wash again with fairy liquid
4. Prep touch up areas, wipedown with IPA
5. Touchup
6. AG SRP
7. AG EGP

Thanks for the reply, sounds good. I touched up before and it came out good so I am confident in doing it well. What does IPA mean and what do you exactly mean by preparing the surface for touching up?

Thanks again

IPA=Isopropanol Alcohol. Its just 'belt and braces' to make sure any wax/oils are removed.
Worth doing under touch ups and also worth doing before applying SRP. Getting the paint surface as clean as possible will help the SRP will adhere and last significantly longer. Do not IPA after the SRP as it will be removed. The EGP is designed to stick to SRP.
Do this properly and then use a decent shampoo DILUTED CORRECTLY and the SRP/EGP combo could last up to 12 months.

Blimey, this is all getting technical now. Thanks for the response and advice. Looks like all this work will take a whole day! Will have to do the bumper first as it requires a fair bit of work one day and the rest of the car another. With regard to long lasting, after every wash, I dry my car whilst applying that autoglym aqua wax stuff. Comes out supper shiny and water beads nicely too. Really recommend the stuff
