These crossfires share the sloppy seconds of an SLK, along with the engines. The 3.2 M112 V6 is a timing chain, so why has it had a new timing belt?

You can say what you want about its looks and I'm not a fan of it, but have a look around any car park. All I see is new cars and anything made in the last five years is boring, boring, boring, the same looking silver, grey, white, black hatchbacks and saloons, all look like each other from the back, front, side, any angle. Some days I think I just must not actually like cars, but it's all so depressingly samey. At least this thing looks different.

Someone advertising a B5 S4, possibly on PH classifieds, had in their advert 'I've just had the cambelt done which was a big bill but it's very important to do as I had a cambelt failure on my previous E36 M3.'



Perhaps 'Timing belt' is Austrian for 'Camchain'? Or the vendor just cuts and pastes standard car selling 'jargon' into all of their adverts?

I do hope that the vendor hasn't been ripped off by an unscrupulous 'mechanic' or 'mate' that's charged them for a 'cambelt service'.

I wonder if they put the old cambelt and tensioners in the boot to show the owner that the job had been 'done'?


Being lazy, what's the status with runflat warning lights and MoTs? Is there some cut off date when they don't apply like the March 2006 road tax nonsense? Or do the runflat sensor indicators have to be shown to be working at the MoT if the car was fitted with them as Original Equipment?

I sort of like the fact it looks like that, reminds me of my faithful scruffy mongrel having a mooch round the garden and then noticing either food being served or visitors, which seems to stimulate his sphincter. I kind of like the Crossfire, at least it isn't Russian Doll silver german diesel thing, I suspect that one may actually be £3500, don't see whats not to like at that kind of money, nice Merc V6, they seem robust, distinctive and apart from the stting dog fascination I think they are pretty good looking.
