hmmmm still have this on my laptop - may have to dust it off for another several months play (as well as Icewind Dale - nowhere near as good, but fun non-the-less). BG is my favourite pc game, I just loved the way it played... everything about it in fact
Did you ever play Planescape Torment, that was the best of the lot!Loved these games, god knows how many hours I spent on them. I still think about reinstalling them every now and again, but I don't know if there is enough hours in the day.
Some of the fights were ridiculously hard if you didn't have the right mix of characters.
I did back pillars of eternity on kickstarter, which is fallout new vegas and south park developers obsidian's attempt at a spiritual successor. They have some icewind dale veterans on their team.
It's looking great from what I have seen so far. I hope they don't f*** it up. It's their own IP and self published unlike their previous games so it hopefully won't be as rushed as new vegas

Loved Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance, fond memories
Oh yes, that's the one I played. Getting that magic floating sword and spending all the points on that made it a bit of an easy game, though. I won't mention the dropping/saving issue that meant you could clone unique items. ISTR being able to pass it to another new character?
