Anybody see the Astra undertake Jim tonight? What was Jim doing in lane 2 so far from the lorries on the inside lane?
Speed of the Astra was a little high of course but if Jim was in lane one then it wouldn't have happened. It takes two to perform an undertake.

Jim's actually a legend. Known him for a few years. He's a petrolhead too. Most of them are petrolheads - I know of Type Rs, Leon Cupras, M3s, various M sport BMs and other tidy metal in their carpark. If you had to listen to the same old crap excuses every day, I think you would get bored of listening to them.

Me too - was that car TWOC'd? If so, the owner was probably a bit pissed off to see one of Jim's mates smash the rear screen for no reason whatsoever.

In the commentary, it said it was 5 up, and a passenger was done for aggravated TWOC. I don't think that they were sat there quiet as church mice. They had every chance to open the doors when it stopped, but sat there until the driver had nowhere to go. Better the windows go in than someone is hurt. Cops on scene don't know what the intentions of passengers are / if armed etc, so the windows going in is a distraction technique.

Fair enough I guess, but only a 2 door so don't think rear passengers were going far very fast. Heat of the moment though I guess.

I've had three current or former Police Driving Instructors take me for IAM or RoSPA tests. The officer that took me for my IAM test compared my drive to the RoSPA grade I could have expected to have achieved for the drive. I am pretty sure he's dead now. Him mentioning the RoSPA test is why I took the RoSPA test after a few years.

So if you have police officers arguing the toss on the hard shoulder about how they've done a 4 week course, do you think that may undermine the credibility of the Police Driving Instructors that assess me on my RoSPA drive?

The RoSPA material used to say a Gold pass was the nearest qualification a Civilian could gain comparable to a Police Class 1 driver or something. Such a comparison or statement may be somewhat devalued if the guy is putting himself into gaps that could obviously disappear at the end of a slip road in a hurry to get to a routine stop for a coach or bus or to act up for the sake of the TV crew. People play up to cameras, even police officers.

If they drive like muppets, and then pull rank with their '4 week course' are they really qualified to assess how anybody else is driving?
