Hi Folks, does anyone have any ideas about Direct Line insurance? I've been given a very good quote from them - £278.00 ie about £500.00 lower than what I'm paying at the moment ie £750.00 which is still a lot lower than the £1300.00 I've been quoted by other firms eg The Post Office. But do they pay out without too much hassle? The 2004 DB7 Number 23 of the Anniversary edition and apparently worth around £30 - £35k is a weekend one(der), garaged, and in a low risk area. Just wondered if anyone has experiences with them, Churchill also gave a similar quote, I'll also try the AA to see what membership benefits bring. A friend said ''Oh well, they may be(DL)cheap the first year but then put it up the second'' but if so I'd shop around again for another good quote, and would have saved the initial £500.00. Thanks for your help. Tony.

Thanks for that, I did look for past posts re this topic but obviously not far enough down, I'll look at the posts. Have had look, I'll get a quote from Locktons and Aviva, thanks again, Tony.

Direct Line policy does not give you comprehensive if you take your car abroad. It will only be minimum legal cover (ie. third party) in most European countries. Don't know if this will be a factor for you. It was for me and I went with Admiral multicar in the end even though they were 370 versus 200 for the DB9.

It's easy to go on cost, but I tend to go for quality of cover against value for money when it comes to insurance - especially for my cars. It sounds like you have a nice 7, which is probably only going to increase in value so for the sake of a few hundred quid, do what's best to protect it and go with who will give you the best service should the worst happens.

Anyway, far more importantly, post some pictures up and tell us more about your car

Thanks for that L.D. and pschlute, yes it's a nice car, don't think I've ever taken it out yet without admiring glances or good comments, some people just turn their heads though and completely ignore the car, you get a bit of jealousy I think when you own an Aston, I never say I've got one unless someone asks what car I've got, even then I only admit to the little Skoda Fabia Greenline (Fantastic car), but if I'm with a certain friend he always tells them anyway so saves me appearing to brag.
There is a photo on the Topic ''Show us your Aston'', (5th page), of around the 2nd February, with info. The car is, as I say number 23 of the last 55 Cars made at the Gaydon factory, it's done about 48500 miles and goes very well, I'm not sure but I think at the moment the rear screen heating has gone, might be just a fuse, otherwise all good, Tony.

Here's the car, no. 23 Anniverary Edition. Personally I like the radio aerial at the rear of the roof..

I thought that DB7 was made at Bloxham and possibly, the only overlap of models at Gaydon was the Vanquish as it was the first of the VH platform cars. But I'm sure even that remained at Newport Pagnel.

Lovely 7, though. Talk about growing old gracefully. A true classic in the making.

Our 2000 DB7VV is covered by Admiral Multicar and is pretty good deal. They try it on at renewal time (they all do!) but a quick check of online comparison sites followed by a phone call to Admiral to moan usually gives me a lower figure than the previous year...
