I'm going to need to replace all 4 tyres on my A6 soon - fronts are getting low and the part worn 9 year old winter tyres on the back, well.

Here's the shortlist - in 205/55/16/91V - which would you pick and why?

Michelin Pilot Sport 3 W rated (often cheaper than V) fit the best.

Kumho Ecsta SPT

Personally I would go for Kumho Tyres if it's not a perfomance based car. Wear down a bit quicker than premium tyres but the grip and water management seem really good. I only had them on a Megane 1.6 and a Clio 1.4 though so this may be different on something a bit more powerful

Got Dunlop Sport Maxx on the 197 and they're really good but possibly not what you're after

Funnily enough I think that's what I replaced with the part worn ste (one had a puncture that wasn't repairable and one had damage to the sidewall)

They're £346 though, so a bit more than I was willing to spend.

I've used Kumho before but did find they wear down a lot quicker than some - it's not a performance car by any means (1.8T A6 Avant).

just doing the same tyre search as you for our Honda accord, 205-55-16 and I think i'm going for the P7.

The Rainsport 3's have been getting good reviews ( http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/Uniroyal-Rain... ) but as per the first reply, on a car the size of the A6 I'd go with a set of Michelins as they'll likely wear the best.

I've just been through this process for one of my daily runabouts. I paid about that. As jon- mentions they wear well, the Primacy 3s wear even better, so either Michelin probably works out cheaper in the long run. If you're only going to keep the car a short while (relatively speaking) then the Kumho tyres that J8/you mention always get good reviews.

I'll be keeping it until it won't get through an MOT economically or the turbo explodes, whichever comes first. Not sure how long that will be, mind
