My first PH dashcam share! This happened on Sunday when my wife was driving us back a sunny afternoon in Stratford upon Avon. There was no prior interaction with these two vehicles. Prior to reaching the roundabout we'd been in slow but steady single carriageway traffic and presumably they were a few cars back from us or joined the roundabout from the other road.

Possibly they were travelling together or knew each other but for whatever reason the bloke in the van was desperate to keep up with the girls in the 107! It doesn't look it in the footage so much, but the gap the Pug went through was pretty small (my wife had seen her travelling up the inside and had backed off slightly, whereas I would have put my foot down and closed the gap), but what the van driver did was even more ridiculous.

Poor wife was quite shaken up by this. I have thought of reporting it, but that isn't the reason I have a dash cam, and also I don't claim to be a perfect driver by any means. It was just young people arsing around at the end of the day (both parties seemed to be smiling/laughing as they shoved their way through so I don't think it was road rage) but this is the first time either of us have been almost barged off the road.

p.s. the slight stutter at the moment the 107 passes the learner is just where the dashcam transitioned from one 3 minute file to the next, nothing has been edited out.

On first watch, it appeared to be a little close, but not the end of the world.

As you say, we all make decisions that are misguided and regret after - let it go and hope the next time you fk up the chap behind with a dashcam doesn't hand it in.

put it down to experience i'd say. If the van was sign written it would have been worth a call in to the company as in my experience (personal experience!) companies take stuff like this far more seriously than the police do.

In this case. put the kettle on, feet up.. forget.

My opinion -

Peugeot - meh, indicating. Small gap but passable.

Van - awful driving, you should report it.

That's sort of my thinking, too. smile

First thing my wife said on seeing the footage is that the Pug didn't look as close as it seemed at the time- I think the camera lens is quite forgiving.

Typical WVM wker. Note he did the same again up the road. Also I really hate people bullying/putting the sts up learner drivers (and you, obv).

Def hand the footage in.

I was amused by the indicating of both of them. Erm, just because you indicate doesn't make it ok to go for a gap that isn't there!

It looks like the van got in front of the Pug further on (via the nearside).

Honestly, I wouldn't bother.

I'm notoriously militant with traffic issues but him his case a third party wouldn't really see much of danger.

st driving, though!

Why did your wife take the right-hand lane upon exiting the roundabout?

I appreciate that she was in the inside lane negotiating the roundabout, but if it was clear and she clearly wasn't making immediate progress to pass the black Corsa (who merged left...as you should).

By holding the inside lane the situation developed. By using the correct lane from the start, the situation would never have occurred.

IMO, of course...

Think you should report the person in the black car who moves onto lane 1, why was he in lane 2 as he wasn't overtaking? Not saying van or pug are innocent but that is why they have done that

Yeah I did wonder about that. The general etiquette there is to enter the RA in the right hand lane if going right, then moving across to the left as you're coming off the RA, unless overtaking. It works well as it allows the other traffic from the other road to merge in smoothly. There's only two exits (unless you count the one we just came from), so left lane for exit 1 and right lane for exit 2 makes sense. So in summary I'd have been in the same position but would have closed the gap when I saw the Pug coming up the inside smile.

The learner driver? As above, they entered the RA in lane 2 in order to turn right (there are only two exits) and it seems to be the usual way there. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

Yes. But by giving them an inch, it gave them the opportunity to take a mile.

You've used 'racing' to describe the video - I certainly don't see any of that. Out of order to use it in the title, IMO.

I suspect they thought you were going to fanny about in the outside lane all day so went for it.

The van cut it a bit fine though.
