Good dining in....Hull

A mate and I are heading to Hull for a Gig on good friday.

I'm of a mind to head up early in the day and do a long lunch.

Doesn't need to michelin 'fine' dining. A really good steak place or burger gastro-type pub would suffice. Good wine list would swing it...but not that kind of weekend really so decent ales would suffice.

Thoughts, comments and insults appreciated.

Naturally we didn't identify Hull for its cuisine....I just thought it might be possible to salvage something...

Went there a few years back. Good old session that was.

I did think of this place...but possibly not close enough to Hull.

Might look and see what they do lunch-wise these days.

There was a half decent restaurant called Venn (this was 10yrs back mind) not sure if it's still around.
Winteringham fields is very good. Just over the Humber bridge (15mins from hull city centre)

Venn went pop in 2005. It's now a bar with about twenty different ales on offer.

Nu Bar on Kingston Road is a decent place at very reasonable prices.

Same owners as the previously mentioned Lounge on P. Ave.
