Supermarket own label beers, what's good??

Inspired by the best lager thread, I couldn't help thinking of some of the other beers I've picked up recently.

Some of these have been supermarket own brands, as I've been noticing there's a few made by fairly well known breweries, or at least decent breweries, and what I've tried has been fairly decent.

Best I've found so far was Tesco's American Double IPA, which I've bought quite a few times after noticing it was made by BrewDog - any other suggestions of own label stuff that's worth trying?

Most of the M&S range - in particular the Citra (Oakham) and Greenwich Black IPA (Meantime). Also the Scottish craft lager is Harviestoun, the Cornish labelled beers St Austell and the Southwold beers from Adnams.

Not an own brand but give Perlenbacher from Lidl's a go.

Proper German beer, 6 x 500ml bottles for less than six quid - very nice it is too.

Waitrose Bavarian dark wheat beer used to be nice but I've not tried it for a while.

I find the supermarket beer is just rebottled stuff from other breweries. They usually have "extra special" or "finest" type labels and usually (based on if I like the sound of the description) taste pretty good. They are also cheaper and sometimes on offer.

I purchased it at netto.

One to avoid if you ever see it.

My own urine must have more flavour.

Morrisons have a few that are brewed by Black Sheep, they're very good and would cost a bit more if they were in a Black Sheep bottle.

I've bought a few cases of these too, in the XL format (8 bottles). Current price cut to just £6.99

Sainsbury's American Pale Ale and Taste the Difference Tap Room are very nice. I'm also quite partial to the Taste the Difference Vintage Cider.

Was thinking of those two beers and stinking the Pale Ale when I started the thread, both pretty nice beers.

The Lidl stuff does sound interesting though..

Yeah thats actually quite nice, even the Grafenwalder pilsner isnt too bad either

Have heard a few times that the Aldi beer Saint Etienne is actually Stella, how true this is i dont actually know but it tasted decent enough (Stella would never be my first choice though)

Sainsbury's taste the difference IPA is excellent. It's brewed by Marston's, but I prefer it to Old Empire. Their head brewer puts her name on the bottle, so she must be proud of it!

Agreed - all the TTD bottled ales are nice examples of their type.

Bought a few bottles thanks to this thread and you're right, it's a cracking bottled beer. Their TTD Kentish Ale was lovely too - though it was brewed by Shepherd Neame and looked (and tasted) suspiciously similar to Bishop's Finger.
