Winter tyres off yet?

I have an unusual day off today and am contemplating getting the winter tyres swapped off. What's the consensus? Too early or go for it?the days are relatively mild now although the mornings are still pretty fresh on the way to work.

It's rwd too - if it was fwd then it would be less of an issue and they'd be off already. What's everyone else doing?

If I could be arsed I'd have done mine on Sunday.

Plan was to keep them on all year until they're dead, but already I can feel the car walking on corners above 10 degrees, and this is on a 15 year old 2.0 Avensis.

I might just get them off this week.

Not until early-April.

Temperatures are still sub-7deg C most of the time I'm driving and there is still the possibility of a cold snap. Of course, I am in the north; it may be different in the south.

If I only had one set of tyres, I'd use winters all round. I can't say I can tell any difference at all in handling in the same car on winters and summers. But I am the first to admit I am not Ayrton Senna reincarnated and I certainly do not seek out the limits of grip on the public highway.

I took the winters off ten days ago. London hasn't had many days below 7 degrees this winter. And, I really didn't see the point of keeping them on any longer.

We had 8ft drifts on the week leading up to the 26th of March last year.

I've sets for both my cars, on spare wheels too.

They never made it on this winter.

If I had fitted them, last weekend would have been swap over.

Mine have only got about 4mm left on them, not worth saving till next winter, I'll leave them a few weeks more then junk them.

I've not seen frost at all this winter. This week frost every morning. Go figure.

No - we've had snow well into April before.

Doesn't hurt to leave them on for a bit longer

Mine will be coming off the Integra as soon as i can be bothered taking the summers out of the loft.

The S2000 was retaxed early though (1st of March) and that has wide summer tyres on it and i am not experiencing and problems.

I didn't fit mine to the Elise. They'll stay on Mrs Muppet's Civic until some time in April, Easter weekend probably.

My winter commuting hack has summer tyres on because althought winter tyres are much better a low temperatures, and hugely better in snow, I fugured being careful would work just fine instead.

Hovering around 3-4 deg C on most of my mornign journeys this week. Was around 7 deg C on way home last night although I concede temps are much higher in the day ( but I'm not driving then )

Went skiing at half term and they proved useful in the top Cairngorn car park and local roads.

I quite like the handling as well as they're a narrower tyre than my normal tyres. Conti Winter Contacts in a 205

Swapped to summers yesterday as was 19.5 degrees in Cardiff last weekend and supposed to be another warm one this weekend.

It was 5 degrees when I left home in London this morning. Mine are coming off at the end of the month.

Don't believe the bks, unless you hit very deep snow they'll still work better than summers.

I didn't put mine on this year. It hasn't been cold enough to be worth the effort.
