Hi all,

I've been looking at the APR gtc500 carbon wing, as fitted by GTO600, Andygtt, Deano and a couple others.

I already think it looks great but I'm more interested in the possible effects it may have on aero and the balance of my car, the car feels well balanced and responsive at speed but I wonder if I can get a bit more rear end grip without just creating understeer.

I will be lowering my splitter at the front by 2cm and extending it forward by 1cm and be able to stay within the regulations for GT cup and SMRC which should help maintain the balance but i'm not sure.

I know this is a best guess than any concrete evidence but feel free to share your thoughts

hope you don't mind me borrowing some pics from google Kev...

Thanks

Graham

2 more questions, Does anyone know how weight compares to the standard wing? can anyone confirm that on the normal mounts, does the wing still fit within the width of the standard arches and not overhang the rear bodywork (Kev I know yours does but that's not standard mounts)

Also a point making it more appealing is APR like the sound/look of what I'm doing and have offered me a chunk off the list price which is nice of them, plus Amber performance are giving me a deal on it too.

i had loads of rear end traction on track at the last silverstone meet despite running full beans on one long stint and not having any rear diffuser fitted at all so it works well on our car.

there is proper air flow data on the wings, mine can produce 3 times what the stock wing does when its raised and yet doesn't go mad on drag, there is telemetry on each wing angle with drag and downforce... its a properly designed wing meant for racers and looks well on our car smile

I ordered mine so the mounts are the same location as stock wing, I modified the APR wing mounts that came with the car and my wing is within the boundary of the car... Kevs was an aftermarket mount.

both wings weigh 4.9kgs without end plates or mounts, my current mounts are 1.4kgs.... the stock wing is glass fibre with a carbon top skin hence it weighs the same as the much larger APR one.

How can they quote drag figures without bolting it to a car? have they got CFD models of a Noble? and then CFD models of your Noble? unless it goes into a wind tunnel no one knows what the drag effect will be.

But it is a very nice wing.

I am talking about the drag and downforce performance of the wing not the car including the wing. rolleyes

Of cause its up to you to get the spoiler in clean airflow so it can achieve its performance figures, but that is true of the standard spoiler as well!

Out of interest, who are you using in the UK to source APR products?

The problem is clean air will be the same for the standard wing, as for the APR wing... as we know this is pish because only either end 1ft or so gets clean air, because racing regulations (for everything other than time attack) say the wing can be no higher than the highest point on the vehicles roofline. so no higher than where I have it now.

if you look at the spoiler data carefully it shows the outer edges generate the most downforce. its very well matched for our car smile
I kept mine below the roofline as well.

thumbup

It's very much an 'action' shot livery, should look great for the cameras at Brands Hatch in front of the Blancpain GT championship and it's entourage, hopefully some big team spots me in my little old 10 year old Noble rocketing round there. wink

Surely it's worth it just for the aesthetics and intimidation factor! I want one.

I love the car. Are you racing at Brands Hatch this season? I would be tempted to come along and say hello.

Well done Graham & look forward to seeing it fitted, Deano has his fitted onto standard brackets so you should be able to adapt your taller ones the same way.

Thanks mate. Will drop them an email.

Just double checked - they are actually the company who have APR products on ebay - I wonder what stock they actually hold in the UK. Be good if you could follow up on the thread once they have delivered smile
