audi a4 2.0t 55 plate oil pick

Hi looking at an A4 as well as other cars to buy.

When looking into buying guides I came across a problem with the oil pick. Can anyone explain to this me please and is there anyway of preventing this problem?

Also any other known problems with this car?

Are you sure that wasn't a 1.8t guide? The 1.8t has a problem with oil coking / carbon blocking up the oil pick up strainer in the sump leading to sudden low / no oil pressure. Happened to mine at ~ 100k miles despite full service history :-(

IF so then no, vw's are known for coil pack failures.

no definetly 2.0. I have done a bit of research would just like to know how to prevent it etc

You mean oil pickup or coil pack?

Why not get a good car instead?

Happened to mine as well no warning light appeared either goodbye bottom end

There is a coilpack recall on the 2.0 TFSI engine, I don't know 100% about Audi but VW themselves replace free of charge even out of warranty.

If it's the same issue as the 1.8t then you need to drop the sump and clean it out. £££ on a A6 because the engine is longitudinal and you need to drop the subframe - maybe the same for an A4

Not all of them are covered under the recall

Re the oil pick up, the only prevention is drop the sump, and put a new pick up in - they a few quid from Audi

Just assume it's nearly blocked, and treat it as urgent as that, obv factoring into the price if your looking to buy one

Obv timing belt/water pump is overdue at this age so make sure it's been done
