Can you refund a 12month road tax for a 6month?

Considering selling the car and thought easy way to pocket £100 would be to get the recent 12 month road tax back or whatever months it equates to and then get a 6 month?

You can claim a refund on the disc and then retax for 6 months yes.

I don't think it can be done in a single transaction though (i.e. send them your disc and they send a 6 month one back) I'm pretty sure you would need to do it separately, which would mean SORNing the car whilst you muck about with it.

Sorn it means its going to have to immobilise for several days
Or however long it takes to get paper work round

I'd give them a ring and ask, they may be able to sort something, I just wouldn't count on it!
