Skoda rear view mirror mounting help please!!!

I'm trying to replace the rear view mirror on my '52 Skoda Octavia estate.

I bought a mirror off Ebay, and the mount looks like this:



And the mount point on the windscreen looks something like this: (right hand side part) - I couldn't find an exact image and it's too dark to take one of mine..



Now, I have tried to mate the two, but clearly they are not made to fit together!

Am I missing some intermediate part, or does my car simply take a different mirror fitting?

The mirror I bought is off the exact same model and year as my car.

Any help would be appreciated please!

don't you still have your original mirror to have a look at? Failing that sign up to briskoda

Different mirror bosses. The mirror twists on to a lug on the screen. The boss you have needs a mirror that slides down on to it.

You need a different mirror. There are plenty of mirrors that will fit it.

I wonder if the original lug type boss has fallen off and the last owner has glued a different one on. I've fitted a fair few Octavia screens and only ever come across the twist type mirrors.

Thanks - I missed your post having posted barely seconds after you.

My car is ex police, so I wonder if they changed the mount - or specified this mount when new - as it looks original.

It is odd but who knows what adventures it's been on. The one I linked will fit that, give it a whirl. Or just have a new screen fitted with the "correct" boss on it.

The boss on the screen is from a peugeot/Citroën car. Presumably fitted to the police car to have a second mirror fitted below the main one.

The mirror you've bought is the correct one for the car.

Go to your local friendly windscreen company and talk to one of the technicians there. There will be a skip full of old windscreens and as the same boss is used throughout the VAG range there will be one in the skip somewhere.

I have bought a Rover mirror. Here's hoping it can adjust to the correct angle!

If that doesn't work, I'll be visiting a windscreen place.
