Replacing injector pintle washers and filters?
Discussion
There's seems to be little online regarding this which suggests it's easier than I think or it's something nobody does. However, I've ordered an injector seal kit with o-rings, pintle washers and the little basket filters.
The original washers were obviously very old and brittle and thus broke up on removal aside for one which came out intact - I experiented with popping it back on the injector and it fell apart in my hands. So, when it comes to fitting the new ones will it be a similar story or because they are new, will they be fine to just 'snap' on as is? Should I warm them up in boiling water to help?
Also, the top filters... I found a video online where the chap scews a err... scrw into the top of the injector and then pulls the filter basket free and simply pops the new one in place and taps it home with a small hammer. Looks a bit too simple and I don't want to go screwing something into mine only to cause damage or find the filters are stuck and I've subsequently ruined an injector. That said, I coudl avoid this stage and just do the o-rings and washers.
Injectors are Bosch EV6 or 0280155 series as fitted to Volvos, VAG and some GM models
Any pointers or advice?
