hi thinking of doing a bit of work on the brakes. the pads I have in at the moment have loads of meat on them .just wondering if I change to something like ebc yellow stuff will it improve my brakes also disks are standard .thinking of changing brake fluid as well been in for quite a few years .i no if I change calipers I would get improvements but don't want to go in to that sort of expense .thanks

I have yellow stuff pads ,apart from high dust they work well on the track and ok when cold on the road ,if you do a lot of trackdays go for yellow ,I you don`t go for red stuff .

then red stuff would be fine I guess, at least what you read about them.

but when you do only road, maybe TRW cotec would also be very good, I've read some good things about those and the price is friendly...
they seem to stop very good, and a few weeks ago I've heard someone used a pair of those on his race/track Porsche (not so wise to use street pads) because his race pads were sooner gone then expected (and he only could get a pair of those TRW at that moment), and although those TRW are absolute no trackday pads they hold very well, they only wear out faster on the track biggrin

I've got yellows and think they're great. Even from cold.

I am running red stuff and there was a very noticeable difference as soon as they were fitted. They contain a coating so no bedding in period, bite straight away and they are good from cold. Lots of excessive hard breaking generates a lot of heat though, possibly a higher spec disc may help this.

+1 , and I find that they are also good on the road too. I use the dust level as an indication of how hard I've been trying.

Standard pads will stop you no different to the top end pads , the only difference is how they cope with heat . I can`t see them getting hot just for road use .

I have a spare set of standard Delphi which stop better from cold than the Yellow stuff ,only changed them for the odd trackday ,they cost peanuts

For trackdays they would struggle to perform after harsh frequent braking .

I've always ran DS2500 pads and can't rate them enough, probably the best pads I've tried and I went through a stage of testing loads when I had a Nissan s15. The ones I found close were Mintex 1144's but they squealed a bit (common issue with these), not loads but a bit.

From what I've read the DS2500's are highly recommended but are not marked for road use so make sure you let your insurers know if you do to for the Ferodos.

Good luck.
