Petrol filling
Discussion
Is there a special technique when filling a wedge with petrol?
I appreciate there are two tanks, but only one filler, but when filling, the trigger goes "click" after around £30 of fuel, but my gauge only shows around half full? (Yes I'm an optimist) lol
Is there a trick to trick some fuel into t'other tank?

Hi Mate...Make sure you are not on a camber that makes the filler lower...Once you get to the point of what seems no more room start to fill slowly and allow the fuel to settle down before continuing...Also remember that the gauge is probably out so you might have more in there than indicated..It becomes less than shown when low...Very strange i know but there is only one sender which is odd for a twin fuel tanked car.....Ziga
...As John say's....It will also look like you are putting in loads of fuel to other drivers..

If you put in too much they leak. If you don't put in enough they conk out. If you only put in about half you don't get very far. The gauge is not accurate and the car drinks like a fish. You have to have very deep pockets if you want to use them every day. You will stink a combination of exhaust fumes and fuel by the time you finish your journey, but, still we love them. As for the filling technique. Just press the lever on the filler at the pump. It helps if you whistle during fill up as it takes so so long to fill

I do full squeeze on the pump until it clicks, wait a few seconds, then I pull the nozzle out halfway and let it trickle in until it gets to the neck.
The last part is usually 10l or so. Take a gallon in the boot (but in a METAL can - I shall tell you why at BBWF....) for emergencies.

I do the same as Adam - but I also do the "Wedge Shuffle" as wellThe last part is usually 10l or so. Take a gallon in the boot (but in a METAL can - I shall tell you why at BBWF....) for emergencies.
This is like the Zumba but both feet stay still and you rock your hips left to right
and back just gently rocking the car as you fill
As Adam says, if you are going a long journey, then I just keep topping up slowly bit by bit
until the fuel finally stays in the filler neck. (never had any leaks though - Tony Elvis!!)

I have seemingly filled up, only to find that when I reached level ground in my garage, petrol was siphoning out through the filler cap. I can only deduce, that settling between the tanks caused this overflow. Petrol is not good for the paintwork
Thank you for backing up my story. I have had several different model Wedges so far and they all seem to be the same. If you fill them too much, fuel stats to overflow further down the road if not in the petrol station. Makes a mess of the paintwork and the carpets and the beautiful smell lingers for weeks adding to the fun.I have seemingly filled up, only to find that when I reached level ground in my garage, petrol was siphoning out through the filler cap. Let the tank run low and the car begins spluttering due to fuel starvation. Fill it half way and you don't get far. That's the beauty of a Wedge and why we love them so much. They are not like any other car on the road. At least that has been my experience of the several Wedges I have owned in the past. And now? Yes you've guessed it. I have another Wedge.
