Boxster problems

Thinking of a boxster 2.7 or 3.2 ( ten year old or so) Heard a few horror stories...very expensive repairs etc etc.. Car would only do a max of 5k a year (would be replacing a mint Z3 2.8 with 40k on it; which has done 22k in last 6 yeras).. Really enjoyed Z3...very underated car but do prefer handling of Boxster but a bit concerned over some of issues I`ve read/heard about.. Drove a few ...liked them all..including surprisingly the 2.5 Tip !!! (Yes it was slowish but still handled great) (Actually preferred 3.2S over 911 (996 ) ??? But then again I like Z3 !!!
Any info about ownership greatly appreciated..anything ..running costs; common faults ; warranties...

if you post ^ this in the Porsche section you should get plenty of help. I've been fortunate to own both a 996 & a 3.2S Boxster. The Boxster offers great value & a good specialist is useful to know for servicing/diagnostics if you need help. l never had any problems with my cars though you people try & run them on the same budget as a Mondeo....ideally you want to buy from an enthusiast with a wedge of receipts & it will help you massively. I'm not saying non specialist garages don't know what they are selling when dealing with Boxsters though be careful as they differ massively when prepping cars for sale. Try a few at well known specialists before you buy.

Dad's had his 2001 Boxster S for nearly (if not) 2 years now. It sees similar mileage to what you're doing OP.

Servicing is quite reasonable as OPC's have bought down the prices to bring older cars back into the network. It's been left standing in the garage for nearly two months at one stage (without a battery conditioner) and started first time.

Dad has his car insured on a classic policy (despite the age) so that's quite cheap. Can't quote annual running figures, but it's not too bad. The only big expense is Shell V Power
