Are pioneer plasma tv's universally brilliant?

Got the chance to get one of these for a couple of hundred quid

I am aware that folk generally get a bit giddy about the old pioneer kuro sets and I just wondered if this would be an improvement over my already seemingly decent (to me) Panasonic mid range 42" job, it's getting on for 6 years old now, works perfect but isn't full 1080p. Other telly is a 40" Samsung bought a couple of years ago and is also a mid range LCD unit.
If you didn't really need a new telly is it worth a punt?

IIRC, the 6 & 7 series Pioneer's where built down to a price point, in order to compete with Panasonic, LG & Samsung panels at the cheaper end of the market and therefore are not a good example of Pioneer build quality.
So I personally, wouldn't spend any money on this.
