Tuning question
Discussion
Firstly, Hi. It's been so long since I posted on PH that my old profile was deleted.
I've just bought a 2003 Mini Cooper auto (I know . . . but my wife needs an auto & with paddle shift, it's pretty good fun)
I am thinking of getting a Superchips BlueFin performance upgrade, which apparently takes it for 115bhp to somewhere between 126 & 130.
Will I notice the difference?
Are there better initial upgrades to the car?

Been there, done that; car will be smoother but you'll hardly notice the extra unless you drive at over 4,000 rpm everywhere!I've just bought a 2003 Mini Cooper auto (I know . . . but my wife needs an auto & with paddle shift, it's pretty good fun)

Best to get a sports exhaust, induction kit & remap from Ptorque - see totalMINI or MINI2.com forums
We did that to my wifes Cooper way back in 04.
I think it does improve the pick up and overtaking is not quite so scary. Agree, it does need 4000+ tomsee any effect but thats's when you need it.
Its a cheap and easy upgrade so worth trying imho.
It's obviosuly no S and, in hindsight, we should have ordered one in the first place but my wife only does 3 miles each way to work so seemd a bit over the top at the time.
Now done 30k since July 03 so hardly worn out but it zips along fairly well.
Back on those days Minis were so new drivers all used to wave to each other!

I would not bother if I were you. As above get an S auto or live with what you have got. I know this is hard but to get a good power rise you are looking at spending big money Fun but not rearly worth it. You could chang the filter and exhast and you would make the car sound more fun?
